Is it possible to replace just the glass on my passenger mirror?

I searched but it is a little unclear. Can I replace just the broken glass on my passenger mirror or do I have to replace the entire housing? Thanks!

yes you can just buy a new mirror surface (glass as you refer to it as). E-bay.

Thank you, what do I need to know to make sure I get the correct one as there are lots on there to choose from?

Generally it's easy: Do you have auto-dimming (electrochromic) exterior mirrors? If so, it's going to be more expensive. If not, it'll be pretty cheap, since they're just heated. Just make sure you have the correct side (passenger) mirror.

Plenty on eBay:

As stated you can replace the glass pretty easily. I have new genuine BMW glass available HERE.

Even if you have Auto-dim mirrors if you want to save money you can just replace them with blind spot heated ones!

Just don't snap the mirror bracket when you remove the old glass, take your time and pry up and not out!

Unless it's different on the E53, the connectors are different for the electrochromic and non-electrochromic ones. So if you have auto-dimming mirrors and put on a regular heated one, you'll lose both the dimming and the heating function. Tried this initially on an E90, got tired of the snow-covered/rain-covered mirrors, so I just bought one that was auto-dimming and sold the plain heated one.

The heating connections are the same, if you have auto-dim and dont replace the mirror glass with the same auto-dim you'll just have an unused plug behind the mirror :)

most glass shops will do this for you, I had the passenger mirror replaced on my e46 for about 50$ at diamond glass
