Another lpg question
Hi Guys i have a 04 e53 4.4 i am going to have it gas converted as i do alot of milage around 100miles per day
i have read alot of write ups on this in the past 3 months some good some bad my question is what happens with the compressor & the battery does anyone have any pics of there boot with the gas tank fitted were the compressor & batt moved & where to. I dont want to loose any boot space as i have to get my sons wheelchair in along with other things. Thanks in advance:p: |
If you need the boot space then dont get the tank that goes across between the rear wheel arches and is a right pain. Before you get it done see if the firm you are going to use has done an X before so you can have a look at it

I have heard that you can get a tank that fits where the spare wheel goes witch sounds like a good job
the problem i have is what happens if i need to change the battery |
Try xdrivers.co.uk. Guess this conversion isnt so popular in the US. Wonder why..........

I run a 4.4 n62 with a prins lpg system. It has been excellent in every respect - I came from an e39 with an etagas system that was terrible. Tank is in the spare wheel feel and I get 73 litres of gas in it - I think it's a 90 litre tank. To get the biggest tank in you have to relocate the Positive connection on the battery (its a big block of wires). After that some routing out of the boot floor cover is needed to get it to sit flush. The rear suspension air pump the needs moving to just in front of the log tank. It's tight but can be done with no loss of boot space. To get to the battery after fitting is an hour of work but I can live with that for the cost savings. Just make sure you get a good installer and definitely go for the prins system - it costs more but the quality is excellent.

I've got a 95 litre tank in the spare wheel well. The compressor is re-located to the right hand rear panel where the sub would go if I had one. Go for a Prins or brc system and make sure the fill and feed lpg pipes have long flexi pipes to ease roving the tank for battery access
