Where I placed my Aux port.
What you think? I chose this location because I wanted to use a split Iphone connector to charge at the same time.

Nice placement. Functional and it hides away easy when not in use! For anyone else that's looking for an aux audio input for there SAV HERE is a link to our selection of the OEM and Dice units for the X!

That's a great spot! I might move mine there if I get bored one day. I have mine in the driver's side footwell, not drilled or mounted, just sort of hanging under the dash. I run a portable XM receiver to it so I had to run the antenna wire anyway. I have my XM receiver in the ashtray area.
It's works well but every so often the AUX gets lost and only have FM and CD. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's a loose connection on the backside of the CD player. Maybe it's the fact that I don't have the female end mounted. :dunno: |
wish there was a way to self store / wheel up the dice iPad cable, it be sorta' oogly.. nice and clean GT1.. that would make more sense if I had a female there instead of a dangler alluh time.

Thanks all.
Yea the glove is a bad spot, for me at least. I thought about putting it into the center arm rest, but it would also be a pain to get out and all that. I have the Y cable that plugs into both the charger, and aux, but its long, 4'. So a bud of mine is going to "correct it" for me. I don't need more than a foot. Once that's done, It will be tidy enough not have slacked wires hanging. |

I also pulled the OBC and the CD player to check my AUX connection since it cuts out sometimes and is not recognized. The connection seemed okay but I reconnected it just in case. While back there, a wire had apparently come loose from one of the harnesses that had been spliced to make my iPod adapter and my DVD entertainment system work. (I have an Invision dual headrest DVD system that uses FM modulation to the speakers or headphones.) So I soldered that up and tried to clean things up a little while I was in there. I then decided that since my AUX cable was neatly tucked up under the center console, so too should the antenna cable and power cable so I fished those through as well. Now none of the wires for my XM unit are visible. It's much cleaner. I'm happy with the results but I blame you GT1 for keeping me up to 2:00 am PST. I feel like a "tweaker". EDIT: GT1 you should get the non-smoker ashtray insert since it looks like you have lined your regular ashtray with foam. The non-smoker version doesn't have the snuffer hole thing and it's lined with rubber. It was one of my first mods. :D Back then, it cost about $7 but I think it's only about $12 now. |
Wow glad I inspired someone else to work on their car till some ridiculous hours.
Thanks for the ashtray idea. Yea I don't smoke, and those are just air freshener beads in there. They suck, but i was given a bag, and figured why not. I'm ordering the non smoker today. Thanks. Love this site. |

I'm guessing you have replaced your center console CD storage bin for the empty one? (Maybe your newer E53 came with the empty one already.) That was another rewarding mod. |

Yea I too love the little details. That's what sets us apart from the ricers. Lol. I just installed 2 shopping bag holders in the trunk as well. That non smoker insert is $32 now by the way. Still better than an ashtray. I deff don't need it. |
