New X5 owner to say "thanks"
I just bought a 2005 x5 4.4 and I love it. I wanted to give a big "Thanks!" to all on here that contribute. I just installed the ESC receiver hitch as it did not come with one. As you can see in my sig I have and old Malibu that I tow. I read what I could of the threads and all were a big help.
I also just noticed some slight shifting glitches. So I am taking it to the local dealer to have the codes updates. There are some updates that I hope will fix it, so I'll follow up when I get it back. Again thanks. I'll do my part to contribute to this awesome forum! Kevin |

I'm glad we can help and that the many long discussions on trailer hitches helped you. I think you made the right choice, thanks to ECS offering the OEM hitch setup. Depending on how long you've been driving your X5, maybe the Steptronic needs to adapt to your driving style rather than requiring you to make a (paid) visit to the dealer. I know that over the course of your ownership you will save thousands from the information here so think about Premier Membership to help support the site. ;) |
Well my dealer experience so far has been disappointing. First they say the codes that they were going to apply are actually for the 3.0 model. So they didn't do their homework firstly. So I went ahead and let them diagnose the trans issues, but they say that do not observe the same issues.
I do a lot of mechanic work myself, but I didn't want to mess with the trans. To diagnose codes, etc what is the best tool? I am not seeing any at this point, but I can see that I do not have much faith in my local dealer. |
