How much oil to you go through?

I have been going through about 12 qts a day (just kidding).

It is about 12 qts between changes (15K). Is this normal?

Which engine do you have? My 3.0 does not require a single extra drop of oil at all to be added in-between oil changes (I change my engine oil about every 7.5k miles) and it currently have about 20k miles on the clock.

You go through 12qts between your oil changes?! If that is the case, you my friend, need a compression test.

Its the 3.0. And yes, its between 10 and 12 qts. Seemed a little excessive to me. I understand that the BMW "Max" usage is 1qt every 750miles. So I am guessing that if I took it in, knowing my dealer, they would say it is "in spec" and would probably charge me the diag. fee just to be asses.

Are you sure that's the spec? That is some seriously heavy usage!

1Qt in 750 miles is BMW spec.

What oil are you using? Are you at redline a lot? My 4.4 with 50K miles uses about 1/2 quart every 10K (my change interval).
