Xenon Bulb
I ordered a pair of two xenon bulbs, Philips D2S 85122+. They were ordered on ebay and the seller posted them as new, never used. However, I am not sure they actually are brand new, the glass ball in the middle of the bulb is half yellow colored. Could somebody confirm if brand new bulbs should be like that?
The camera didn't exactly pick up the yellow tint I am talking about: http://s16.postimage.org/3q5a8cnyp/IMG_0175.jpg http://s14.postimage.org/4h3zdzuil/IMG_0176.jpg There is a grainy yellow tint on the side of the electrode. Only the small glass ball at the middle of the bulb has it. |
I edited one of the photos to highlight the yellow tint area, since the camera didn't quite catch it.

Hi Chas,
I have Osram bulbs and they do have a creamy colour spot in the middle. The Philips, however, seem to have a more yellow colour as you can see here in their wesite pics So the bulbs you bought off Ebay seem to be new,but try them and see, before you give the Seller ,the feedback |
from what ive seen, the actual light given off from replacement xenons tends to be more yellow at first but goes to normal color not too long after

Moving on, I noticed the driver side HID bulb mount (inside the headlight) was a little bit loose. I thought it was because of the adaptive lights, but then I compared it with the passenger side, which felt more solid. Should I worry and try to re-tighten any screws? The adaptives work just fine, both by themselves and through INPA, no flashing "A" LED on the light knob either. |
