Are you looking for a cable/reader to pair the OBD2 port with the laptop? I'm not sure what software they are using, but I've had a couple guys report success using OBDII USB Diagnostic Cable (found HERE) in programming several different BMW models.

I have the BMW scanner 1.4.0 (found on ebay for about $150 with interface cable). You get a CDROM disk that works on any windows operating system from 98-vista and also is working well on my 7 software. It has already saved me at least double that in code reading at the dealer or indy shop.

You can find demo videos of that software online and see exactly what it can do. It does not do ride height recalibrations for air suspension but it does allow you to read and clear just about every code in the system as well as reset service and inspection lights.

I have this that I use with my Android phone app Torque. The Bluetooth OBD2 device aso came with a CD for my laptop but I have not used it.

Can this reset the all the codes. Including the air susp codes? if it can, I might get this. I really need to get a hold of this from someone to compare to the GT1. If it can come close to monitoring temps in the trans, and diagnosing other issues, I think this is the way to go.

Torque app on Android + ODB2 bluetooth will reset codes.

INPA/EDIABAS is the dealer's diagnostic tool for the E53 era.

Used the app Torque a couple of weeks ago to diagnosis a misfire in cylinder No.4. Swap the spark plug out but I still had the miss, so I swap the coil pack from cylinder 4 to cylinder 2 and when the code came up it was for a misfire in cylinder 2. Autozone carries coil packs for our car. So for $80.00 bucks and a little work I was able to fix my BMW. I carry my OBD II bluetooth adapter in the car and have the free app Torque on my phone. Like the app so much that I brought the app for my tablet. App is available for Android and Ipad.

A side note, my car is a MY 2001 E53 3.0I. All the coil packs had the BMW logo on them and the manufacturer's date was 2008. So the P.O. had all the coil packs replaced some time after 2008 with OEM BMW coil packs. I'm surprise that the new coil packs only lasted less then 4 years and less then 50,000 miles based on the carfax report.
