i have been following this guide for the most part but not entirely, mostly just reference and trouble points. https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:X6RohJOLUs0J:www.xoutpost.com/article/BMW%2520Valley%2520Pan%2520Gasket.pdf+bmw+x5+4.4+h ow+to+remove+injectors&hl=en&gl=us&pid=bl&srcid=AD GEEShMxf7Unsg-ASLQUV1Uyt3FDzCJTUHwes7kqdF01NqBSPXQUWKsGaeatikjyG IvUpl3zwH-209jCiDsgja9gC3dDWEQm1e9s3iULEcAOJX4mbmT49_htN-AQgFankzXl370lkMh&sig=AHIEtbTafhYhX2hc0higoGNrgB_6 efZtCA
i am having issues tracing this electrical wire down from the back of the pass side power strip. it seems to go over the bell housing of the trans and then i lose it. can anyone point me in the right direction? |
If you're trying to move the fuel rail - just fold it over onto the passenger side of the engine compartment. You do not need to remove/unhook that line.
edit: tried to add a pic to show what I'm talking about but the site will not let me |
no where just hangs down there
far as I know it just hangs there it got me to ,must be a over flow or sucks warm air to the ccv ?

but... onto the next issue, i found these two lines after taking off my intake mani, might have been me but i doubt it i've been pretty gentle during removal. -the line towards my thumb comes from near the bottom line for the oil seperator and is a soft rubber line. it is broken/ ripped off at the one end. -the other line towards my fingers is a harder plastic, coming from the opposite side of the water mani. it does not appear broken. also, this may be the other end of one of the lines but one of the upper lines on the back of the intake mani has been blocked off. edit: to post a picture you have to first host it and upload from url. thats what im doing at least. |
The one on your fingertips is a breather hose - leave it alone. The one on your thumb should go in the bottom of the separator. On the back of the mani there should be one nipple blocked off and one coming forward with a line to hook up to the vacuum system. I've posted pics before but for whatever reason they are not showing up tonight...MODERATOR could you fix this? http://www.xoutpost.com/images/smilies/thumbup.gif
Also, if you haven't found it RealOEM.com Online BMW Parts Catalog has diagrams that can help identify parts and where they go. |
my bad - the soft rubber hose close to your thumb I think attaches close to the bottom on the back of the intake - RealOEM.com * BMW E53 X5 4.4i Crankcase-Ventilation/oil separator
