DRL Relay Kit.
 

I like having my DRLs on, for safety reasons. Would be nice to go from dull yellow to white. Just wondering if anyone has ever hooked up a relay kit to increase the voltage output.

But that would mean you would be driving around with what is tantamount to your high beams on all the time. I'm sure it would not be long before some local or state driver's tax collector with the pretty red and blue flashing lights issued you a ticket.

Not where I'm from. My other car has factory Bi-Xenon headlights with the DRLs activated at full strength, and I don't mean my Xenon lights are dull, they are bright white 6000K DRLs. If I run HID H1 bulbs above 6000K, probably run between 8000K to 12000K, they won't be as bright because the lumins are much less around these temperatures. I'm not looking for brightness, I'm looking for whiteness.

Agreed with Zulu. Your DRL Bi-Xenon headlights is only using the low beam for this function. On the other hand, your X5's DRL is using the high-beam, which have a different beam pattern.

Why would you want to make it whiter (other than cosmetic reason), which is harder for others to noticed you in direct sunlight.

Anyone experienced that in the past where you have all your headlight
rear/front including dashboard keep blinking like a police cruiser, whether
the car is running, or not having the key into the ignition, and car is parked,
it still doing it.

Folks! this annoying issue driving me crazy by having all these lights
blinking in and out like a police car without turning the switch button
whether the car is running or parked, same thing. N'less you removed
the negative Battery cable. But guys, imagine how much work and annoying
it is to keep disconnected the Battery cable on a X5 twice a day.

My only guess is a Computer related issue, now BMW stealer will definitively
catch me down the line.... after doing it all by myself in the last 2yrs.

Another potential "white DRL" solution is to have the fogs fitted to be used as the DRLs. Up to you if that is reasonable for your situation.


I would like to see data that running the high beams at, say 10-12k bulbs for DRL, produces white light at the 6volt output of the DRL system. Haven't found that answer yet.

So, you're experiencing this even when the X is just parked and no key in the ignition?! I would check your battery. Its probably on its last leg.

Sorry if I misunderstood what you described.

My guess is the LKM is fried but you need a service provider that can access the "Dash Memory" (if I remember correctly) to look for fault codes.

Yes twinspoppa! My X5 can be parked and locked but both headlights
rear lights/signals, entire dashboard including third brake light keep
flashing 3 times per second just like you see the police cars blinking.

It does that whether the car is driving or you parked taking the key
with you. Sometime I have to keep playing with the key in the ignition
by turning the key back and forth, restarting the car twice in order to see
if the headlights including rear lights will remain steady. All this stuff
happening without turning the switch button, I also don't have any signal
whether I'm ready to make a turn, the signal gear didn't make any
different when selecting left or right.

Before when things started acting up, I used to get normal signal
on right side, but now it's not even blinking on my dashboard
or responded on both side. Things obviously getting worst.
As far for the Battery, I dont know what other sign that would
make a Battery to look bad, N'less it won't hold charge for too long.
And Good thing, I DO NOT have any such of weakness when it comes
to start my car, even after 3 days not running. The Battery usually starts
my engine right up.
