Window Tinting, how much/what product?

Hi there everyone: Can I get an idea from the those with tinted windows, how do they like em, I want to get the rears done (5% sun let through) and then the fronts (50%). I already have sun protection tinting in rears (factory). Any tips? Got a quote for the 3M product for approx 450$. Also saw a black 4.8is that just came out of the tinting shop with 5% sun let through all around - WICKED!!! Don`t know how much the person will be seeing through those things......

Cheers,

I have the factory tint in all of the back windows it seems like 20%. I just tinted the two front windows 35% for 80 bucks with lifetime guaranty. Took the guy 20 minutes but it looked good. So it looks like a fade from rear to front. 20% would matched better with my factory tint but I think it would be too dark to see at night. My brother inlaw have 5% all around on his rx8 and looks awesome in the daytime but have to rolled his windows down to reverse at night. LOL

Btw it is illegal in most states to tint front windows. Some states allow it but I dont think anymore than 35%.

I thought the factory tint is 35% :dunno: I have heard the metallic films interfere with the radio. Tint laws

IS there a price range i can compare too, because I live in Georgia and i have been to a couple of shops and well the price varies from 150-400. and sometimes the same person if i call from a nother number or just call back later and i dont mention the bmw name the price drops, but the lowest i have found is 199, but the same guy a while back like 2 months back told me 175 hmm, then today he said 225 he keeps playing around so im just like looking for a good price range to make sure im not getting ripped off, anyone ?

Hey art, I'm getting the same thing here in Atlanta. One guy says $175 then the other three say $350. They assume BMW=giving away money, the bastards!! If only the $175 guy wasn't 30 miles away. Anyway, one of the shops I visited put a meter on the back window and it is exactly 30%.

Huper Optic is the brand tint alot of folks are using on the M3 forum. Doesn't affect any electronics.

I went 5 percent all around, front included. Perfect for the florida sun, though I feel it takes some getting used to for driving at night. Paid 180 for all the windows to be done.

5% on the rears and 50% on the fronts will be a pretty big difference, might not look that good.

50% is almost no tint

I have an X5 that does not have the climate package. What grade of tinting should I use in each window (back, rear qtr, rear, front, windshield) to make it look like it came with the climate package? What color (black, charcoal, smoke, etc)? Also what tinting brand do you recommend?
