Weird Interior Fan Problem
Hi All,
I have had my 03 X5 for about 3 or so months. Ever since I owned it, every time I start the car the interior fan is on, as is the climate display etc. I have simply been turning it off. Now lately it is the same however after 2 or 3 minutes, the fan will go to full power on its own even though the display shows the fan on low.... Any Ideas on the problem and a fix?? Thanks Shaun |
Final Stage Resistor......I think but search and see what you come up with as far as symptoms.

Thanks mate, Yeah thats what Im thinking too :-)
Now Im in Australiaand BMW parts are stupidly expensive, can anyone please point me to the right part online I can buy?? Cheers |
Now the fan has stopped altogether, Do you guys think its still the FSR?
Cheers |
Most likely it is the FSR. ECS Tuning ships to Australia I believe.
|
Fsr. Try ecstuning.com.

Mate use ECS tuning but my advice would be to grab some other small parts which you may need to replace soon to "share" the cost of shipping. I think their minimum shipping cost is $47 so just keep adding parts and refreshing the shipping cost until the shipping price vs amount of parts is acceptable to you. For example an oil pressure sender is only $10 as opposed to $50 from BMW here and you will most likely have to replace it at some stage and its small, also filters are light and always need replacing so shouldn't add to much to the cost of shipping
I'd be replacing the FSR as first port of call - There are so many write-ups on it failing its not funny |
Try Clickable Automotive first mate, they're in Melb. I got my Ignition Switch delivered over night for around $90. (Check my post in the Australia Forum Section)
Now ECS is cheap but their freight charge is what kill the landed cost. |
well, I bought a resistor off eBay, $60 dollars, installed today in 15 mins and all good, This forum is a wealth of info.
Thanks |
