Hi there,my car has been in for diagnostic scan, and they think it is the EGR valve.Going in on monday for further investigation. Will keep you posted.

have you tried to bypass the egr valve by blocking the vacum pipe

I have a feeling it's the maf sensor that needs cleaning but wa hoping for more replys

Hi there,I checked out the EGR valve which seemed fine.Removed Maf unit and gave it a good clean with electrical spray cleaner.I also noticed that the engine oil was on the high side, which I adjusted. After which, the car is running like a swiss watch!!> Fingers crossed I hope it is cured.Hope this is helpful to you.BIGDIPPER.

Hi Bigdipper

Did you remove the maf sensor to clean it?

Was it straight forward?

Yes I removed it.Its a pig of a job.You will need both male and female Torx tools plus a lot of patience.I used electrical spray cleaner from Halfords £3.99.Give it a proper soaking from every angle through the mesh from both sides, then let it dry.DO NOT TOUCH THE ELEMENT with anything or you will knacker it.Hope this helps.Good luck.Regards bigdipper.
