V1 installation

Hey Gang,
I'm going to install my V1 in my 4.8is this weekend and checked the wonderful FAQ's on the home page. One question though, how do you remove the homelink transmitter, sunroof switch, etc to get access like that? Do they just pry out with a screwdriver?

I just don't want to scratch something up unnecessarily.

Thanks!

Scott

Just do it gently and take your time and it should be no problem. Nice addition and I hope that you also got the Stealth One, which is a nice way of integrating the V1 onto the X5. I did it on my 4.8 and can recommend it.

Gus, tell me more about the stealth 1. Can you literally hide the V1 out of view? I figure if I have to have it sitting in the window, I may as well look at it beep instead. Where do you have yours mounted?

I have the V1 mounted on my sunvisor (accessible for volume setting) although I have read posts referring to other locations (do a search). The real benefit of the Stealth One for me is the control of the V1 through the steering wheel buttons (for muting, for instance) and the display of the alerts on the OBC screen (the V1 is blank, therefor undetectable from behind) plus the ability to mute the V1 alerts below a selected speed (for me 45MPH).

Agreed. These features make the S1 worth every penny!! It's a pretty simple DIY as well.
