When I use the floor jack, I go 'off' the diff to one side on the rear susp A arm, and use an old knarly piece of plywood for a 'protective' and broad lift point, there. Never had a problem, and I can crank it high enough, even 'off center line' to get both rear wheel/tires off.
I thought I had bookmarked some posts on the topic, but all I found was this pic done by someone else; they are using the rear diff, though not on the finned aluminunm piece, fwiw. GL, mD |
Nice one David,
Thanks for the reply and the pic! Regards Jaima |
BMW service instructions say to lift on the differential, but not on the finned cover, as MD mentions.
There are threads discussing it, with a copy of the BMW instruction. |
I raised it car on the diff but I put a 6" x 2" piece if soft wood
between the jack head and diff, lifted with no problem at all! Thanks for the replies guys Regards Jaima. |
