Hard Choice. Need your opinion guys! Please Help

Hi Guys.
I currently have a 2006 X5 4.4 sport that I bought new and is easily one of my favorite cars ever but I am currently in the market for something new. So the 06 is for sale and I am considering a CPO'ed X5M or a brand new X50 sport.
Just was wondering if anyone had any opinions those 2 vehichles. For the money Id rather have a brand new X5 but is the X5m really worth it?
Will the X50 sport even with mods ever come close to the X5M?
And does anyone think the Xm is actually too much?

I was considered purchasing an X6M this year but have since changed my mind and decided on keeping my X5 for a couple of years more. I looked at the 4.4V8M and soon discovered the 50d was a far better prospect with 280Kw/740Nm it would be a brute and with the option of remaping the ECU the performance increase would be in the vicinity of 320Kw/840Nm. My 05diesel ( remaped & modified exhaust ) developes 203Kw/615Nm in the lighter E53 it's impessive, so I can only imagine a remaped X5/X6 diesel. Cheaper to buy far cheaper to fuel up and I doubt if the 4.4 would make much of an impression under acceleration, just don't stand too close with the engine running. The V8 has the Kw but a remaped diesel has the torque I think a neck brace would be in order.

Thanks for your opinion. Ive actually considered the Diesel too but the X5M is so impressive on paper

One thing that immediately occurs to me, you like to mod - what would you mod on an ///M?
Between gas mileage and tuning, 50 might be best bet?

I'm really amazed at the price drop I'm already seeing on the ///m'er, its on my long list, but I'm guessing a 3'er is the reality.

I have a view you can make a decision on a needs basis vs a want basis, and if you want the ultimate X5 then there is no other choice than the V8 M/// which will always be the flagship of the X range. If other factors are being considered such as fuel economy, cost etc, then only you can answer as to how important they are vs what you want. The good aspect of these amazing X5s is how little you need to do to turn them into a beast, I lowered mine with Eibach springs fr/re and fitted X6M wheels 20x11 re/20x10 fr which has made it handle like its on tracks, so I think if you choose the lesser it can be made better and unless your doing track days which I doubt the difference may not be so important. I guess the problem is its still not an M/// The 50d (tri turbo )will be available in the M/// form and that will be my choice when I'm ready.

I wonder what the price is on the M against the 50i.....and if you do get the 50i and mod it would it just come close to the price of the M's msrp...then it would just be practical to go for the M bec at the end of the day it would still be an M.....my girlfriend and I was considering to get the x6m ($85k=40kmiles) for her...but to be practical, being she travel 120miles a day to jersey city at GS,with being that ,gas, tolls, mileage and selling it in the long run,we believe that the 50i would sell better due to it future miles against the M.Both cars had Power and Handling the question she was asking herself too was does she really need that HP for just traveling? she said that the 50i was enough for what power she was expecting the M would be like driving a SAV with FULL of TEstosterone.lol.. For the price of monthly payment it was less than $50 difference between both ...we ended up gettting the X6 50i ($80K-19kmiles) for her, due to she's the type that would sell it before hits 75k....me personally i would keep it forever....and just do exterior work to it....but still wish we have should have bought the M
