Anyone have AFe Throttle Body Spacer?

Want to know if anyone has the AFe throttle body spacer and their experience with it? I'm thinking of adding it to my 4.8is

Thank you!

if you install it, just curious if you would put your car on a dyno to see if you are really making 400hp?

And that had what to do with the question of the thread? But since it's just killing you to see if I've reached my goal, sure after install my next few pieces I will get a dyno for you.

Now anyone who hands on experence? I need to know if it's worth it at all. Need to know if it does what it's described to do, or if it just robs the truck of power.

Thank you

No experience with the AFE spacer referenced here.

However, any device that claims to increase horsepower and torque by creating a swirl in the intake manifold is flaky by definition. You have to start with the assumption that it is a scam and then try to disprove that. If you don't do baseline dyno readings, your experiment won't necessarily help answer that question.

I have read about studies of throttle body spacers tested in a lab, which showed that it was possible to increase power, but not until the spacer was over one meter long. And at that length, there was very poor throttle response, apart from the packaging issues.

Hey Papa13, What was added to your 4.8is to get 400hp/410tq?

Thanks,

Peter

seems like i'm not the only one curious about such a claim. i think we are just inquiring as to how you arrived at such numbers vs just a guess.

i have one fitted to my Jeep Cherokee and it made a difference to throttle response , its claimed that the extra volumetric capacity is what does, plus how the throttle butterfly opens in relation to the now heightened manifold . with a BMW however that uses valve opening variations to control engine speed ( and from reading i believe the throttle just goes wide open on start up and as above the valves control engine speed) i would doubt a spacer would have much effect. also the old technology Jeep engine there is plenty of scope for improvement, however with BMW and most modern engines i think they are generally delivering the best that they can .......reliably.

I haven't, but I would. I am firmly in the "play with your car" camp, and this one doesn't cost much. Let us know how it comes out.
