Self leveling Susp inact air noises

what's up people. I have the 2001 X5 4.4 and for about 2 years I had the self leveling susp inact message come up but it had no effect on the ride or the suspension. Then for about a month it would go down when I parked but would always go up right when I started the car. Now my car is very low on the right rear side. Every time I unlock the car it seems like it is trying to go up but it just can't. It makes a hissing, air leaking noise. At first I thought my tire was leaking air but it turns out to be the suspension. Now the car is always low. There are times it goes up for like a minute max while driving but then drops back down. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery but it did not help. I went to a few mechanics in brooklyn and they dont even want to touch the car after hearing my story. I read somewhere that I should try replacing the air control unit. Not sure what to do at this point. IF anyone had this kind of problem or a similar problem to this one please give me some tips and tell me what you think is wrong. I wish it is not the air bags so broke :( Thanks!

Sounds like the rear air bag is leaking. Take the wheel off so you can see the air bag and spray it with soapy water. I bet you see it bubble up. The rear bags are really easy to replace... just a couple of clips.

self leveling suspension might be the fuse, check the fuse box for it
