Stranded and can't enter key into ignition..

Came back to my parked X, unlocked it, now I can't slide my key into the ignition..

What's the deal? PayPal reward to anyone who gets me home

wiggle your steering as it may have locked steering while you slide the key and keep turning your steering as you slide and turn the key?>

pnoyako85 04-26-2012 05:13 PM

checked your gear make sure it is on park.....if not ...try to shift it to D and put it back to park...

SF2000x5 04-26-2012 05:39 PM

No luck. Steering wheel freely rotates and isn't locked.

"cant slide the key". Is the blade bent? If not call the dealer and see what they suggest?

Wrong key? Lol. Try turning key plate to line up with cylinder. If it even does that. Dunnu.

That happened on my E46.
You need to vibrate the ignition barrel, something must be sticking. Put your key in, try to jiggle, vibrate, pull in -out etc, it should eventually free the mechanism, hopefully.

i was reading the same.@ Turbo....stick a flash light in the cylinder and see if anything jamming the whole/>/?> if you can stick a flat head in there that would free anything from stopping the key from going in.

A piece of metal looked like it didn't retract and I ended up forcing a flat head into the ignition and forcing the metal piece away from the path of the key. And the truck started right up after forcefully rotating the ignition. This was all done at home after a tow. The all state roadside did come in handy.

The key now goes in but not as smooth, even after some wd-40.
