Best Ipod integration for X5 E53

Hi,

my iphone conncects to my speakers over bluetooh which works great, but I also would like to use my music on my iphone. Which is the best solution for that? Is it dice mediabridge or something else?

Thanks

I use the aux input. It works great, and costs a fraction of the other options.

Sounds interesting but how do you do that and what do you need?

It's a $20 cable that you get from BMW, that plugs into your head unit in the back, there is actually a port for it. Then you get another $15 cable to connect from it, to your iphone. The AUX input appears on your head unit, and you listen to your Iphone. Steering and radio controls don't control your iphone, but I honestly don't care about that. It sounds great, and doesn't cost much. Plus I get to connect whatever device I want.

Oh, just search for AUX cable. Tons of threads on it.

I've been using the DICE ipod unit in my E46. Works awesome. Just haven't gotten around to getting one for the X5 yet. Installation was super easy. I hooked up the DICE box with the OEM CD changer cable and plugged my Ipod classic into the DICE unit. My iPod is in my trunk and I can access and change play lists from the stock head unit with the ability to use the sterring wheel controls.

I had a pre-Silverline DICE unit in my E46 that worked flawlessly. When I got my X5 I picked up the new DICE Duo thinking it would work the same. The sound is good, but I have issues every now and then where it won't accept input from the steering controls, and sometimes it just won't work unless I disconnect the cable and the reconnect it. Most of the time it works fine, but I just wanted to give you a heads up that you might want to consider another option. The DICE I have in my X5 doesn't work nearly as well as the one I had in my E46.

Another AUX user here. Works great and is super cheap. It'd be nice to have steering wheel controls, but changing songs while driving makes driving that much more fun!

How hard is it to pull out radio to install aux cable? Thanks

If you look at the top of the page you will see a "How To's" link.
Choose your vehicle. The Aux input info is found under Stereo.
