Halos/Angel Eyes?
Right turn signal just burned out on my Sport Pkg '03 X5 and figured this is a good time to mod. Just ordered 6 Stealth Bulbs for front, rear and side markers. Since they need to be removed from vehicle to replace, I'm planning to bake them open and remove the orange plastic pieces from the reflectors, being out and open I figure this is an ideal time to install.
Having searched and found ALOT of conflicting info, I want some owner input on the topic. I am looking for a BRIGHT, PURE WHITE/LIGHT BLUE kit that is very visible in daylight and matches or is slightly bluer then the Xenons . I have seen some that are yellow and hardly visible in daylight and don't want to waste my time/money on those. Thanks, JC |
Check out the sponsors' website. They have some nice AE Rings

eBay vendor "fishcake321" (His name is Simon) offers DEPO housings w/ Auto-Level, and LED AE's pre-mounted. Personally have had no issues at all with his product. E-mail is [email protected] if you have any questions. Here's a link to the thread, hope it helps man.
edit: p.s. fitting some Lamin-X 20-mil film during DEPO housing install couldn't hurt.... |
I bought Simon's kit as well, but that is a complete replacement kit, I read that he wants to "boil his own"?
If that is not the case, do ask (PM) MRBMWX5 about complete and individual pre-facelift headlight mods. Be aware that the complete DEPO kit (HID, ballasts and HID fogs) -can- resulted in a non-repetative lights-remain-on situation that kills the battery, I have experienced this twice. Just make sure that the interior lights fade out like they are supposed to (15 sec) & no problem. If it makes you feel any better, all other AE solutions are worse (error codes, etc.). |
BMW X5 X-5 E53 HEADLIGHT CCFL ANGEL EYES KIT HALO RINGS 00 01 02 03 PURE WHITE | eBay
Would that be the correct kit for a x5 without factory angel eyes? I've split shells before on previous cars so thats no issue. Just curious is all. Sorry for the hijack... |

All the info in the DIY section of this site states that BMW used a different adhesive to seal the headlights of the 2003 MY X5. Has anyone had any luck opening OE 2003 headlight assemblies?

Yes, mrbmwx5, with a dremmel and reseal with silicon (I think)
