gdlbmw 05-08-2012 06:31 PM

way over priced.

Dark5yde 05-08-2012 06:38 PM

I just bought a 03' 3.0i with a brand new engine for $10,900 So take that for what it's worth.

wasp9166 05-08-2012 06:41 PM

mmm, kbb said 16,700

why ya say overpriced?

pezho405 05-08-2012 07:33 PM

Yeah that seems really overpriced for a pre facelift. but i guess its cause it has only 70k miles on it.

I got my 2004 (facelift) 4.4i for $13,050 with 145k miles on it.

TwinTurboGTR 05-08-2012 09:23 PM

I concur with the above. I'd say $13.5 is fair. and Pezho, I think IMHO you overpaid for your's, facelift or not.

sockethead 05-08-2012 09:33 PM

KBB, NADA and sites like that are usually overpriced and don't reflect the actual local market value. What you have to do is go to sites like autotrader.com that have similar vehicles for sale at actual maket values in your area...

edmunds.com also is much closer to reality

+1 on Edmunds, >$16K is 'out there' at present market but hard to say without seeing it - dealers don't give a terrific view of the X, so a look-see should tell more. Low mileage is a definite plus and if they have records to prove "all services done", you're closer, u know the deal, $16K if it is obviously a grocery getter at 7k mile/yr -could- be a bargain..

My experience is that Females that like the e53, Really Like the e53, so this may be a Moot discussion, heheh..
Can you talk her into an Indy Inspection and does the dealer offer a warranty that you are allowed to READ?
personally, I run, do not walk, from a dealer on a car this old..
show her fleabay, at least she can get an idea of what's out there and price-ranges..

(disagree on the overpaid for '04 comment, unless you have seen the X and met the previous owner - mileage is Nothing compared to owner and history)

+2. That car is overpriced even with the Sport Pkg.
We bought our 01 3.0i with 74K mi for $7500 in 2010 from a private seller. Since then we spent about $1K for preventative maintenance that I did myself like cooling system and VCG, Vanos Seals...
