I need help with a ZF box.

How do I go about replacing number 10.

I believe its the oil pump seal. Is it straightforward as undoing all the bolts then pulling it out a cm to replace the seal. Or am I being naive..?

I don’t have any first-hand experience of the 5HP19 I’m afraid but I can’t see the complete intermediate plate/pump assembly budging axially until both plastic pump tubes (numbered 7 in the diagram) have been removed first from underneath – which means that the valve block will have to come off first.

It looks as though he removes the valve body first. However I'm now a little confused to which seal I have and which is number 10 in the realoem.

I've drawn two black lines, now correct me if I'm wrong but I believe there are seals located in those locations.

Assuming that number 10 on realoem is very outside seal, then the reverse drum guy on e46fanatics, merely undoes the bolts and pulls out the assembly, and you can see the seal in the picture.

Now if the seal that is number 10 on realoem the inner one on the bronze pump, then I appear to be a little more screwed.

You're right, those plastics need to come off which likely is going past more than just undoing a few bolts !

Never mind. I assume the leak is from the input shaft and not the oil pump seal.

I believe the input shaft is alot more common to leak than the oilpump seal though
