Hi all
Thought I'd finally take the plunge and join the club. Check out the link Pictures by gavinj64 - Photobucket for pics of my 2005 3.0D and let me know what you think. I've had the car a year now and love it. Current mods include software and decat so I'm sitting on +/- 200kw :D She pulls like a train and I've given a couple of Boy racer types quite a scare. I have a few dead pixels in my Sat Nav display, so next up is a fix for that plus fitting my CK100 car kit and Denison IPod controls while the unit is being repaired. Looking forward to connecting with the folks. |
Welcome. Car looks great. Really like the white on black.
Search the forum for navi lcd replacements. There is a guy out in HK that will ship out replacement screens. The repair is fairly easy after that. |
Looks great, Welcome to the club!!!

I was a lurker for about a month or so before I joined.... great info and great members here...
Did you do the Di-Noc yourself? |
Congrats on the X!
|
@Sockethead - Yip, I did the Dinoc work. I'm actually going to be hydro dipping the interior in black carbon fibre. Setting up at home and just waiting for the elements for my dipping tank. Can't wait

Welcome to the forum! :)

check out this link - that will give you an idea of what the process is that I will be using for my interior. The plan is to go with black carbon fibre.
Water Transfer Printing Process - YouTube |
Bimmian offers Dinoc wrapped interior trim for a pretty reasonable price. They do require a core exchange but it would save the work and avoid screw ups with a DIY.

Welcome aboard!!

PersonaNonGrata - wrapping parts is pretty easy, a hair drier and a little time is all you need. Typically I suggest people pick up a little bit more than they need so if they "oups" they can just pull it off and reapply the section, or if it's really bad they have enough extra to re cover the parts.

Welcome :beerchug: your x5 looks clean!

How well did the 3.0d respond to the decat, was it done at the same time or separately to the remap?
Nice car btw. |
Congrats and welcome aboard!
|
Thanks Guys.
I had the decat done prior to the remap. I've had no issues with either the decat or the remap and love the smooth power delivery. I do, however have the dreaded transfer case actuator gear fail. I assume it's a combination of age (2005 with 172 000km), and extra torque, so I need to replace the actuator motor at some point. There was talk on this forum about someone trying to get the nylon gear made up? Not sure what's happened to that. Any ideas? |

Thanks Slick - tried that, and discovered someone had beaten me to it :banghead:. So, not really any other option but to replace the unit, unless I can buy the gear separately :( Still, at 172k km, I guess I should be glad she runs so well and relatively trouble free

Do you have a link, or do I search for actuator rebuild?
