Feel like a dipsh!t today!

So I went to top off the oil yesterday on my 2002 3.0 and found I didn't have any M1 5W-30 left. OK, I'll pick some up at the 'Zone today and get her up to full.
My son drove to Prom last night and this morning I noticed a SES light -- scanned out as a P0171 and P0174, so maybe there is an intake leak. Got home to add the oil I bought and...

No oil cap.

Fortunately it was still on top of the intake runners, so I added my quart and re-installed said cap.

Morals of the story:
1. Keep some M1 5W-30 on hand with a car that burns it
2. Don't get interrupted.
3. Don't be a dipsh!t!

Oops! Luckily it didn't turn out too badly. I have heard of an oil change with no oil going back in, leading to tragic consequences.

You could have drained the transmission fluid instead of the oil like my buddy did on his Toyota Tundra.

But forgetting the oil cap is up there.
