Hualingan problems
Can any one help with a problem with my Hualingan unit. the Fu**ing thing has stopped putting out sound through the speakers, just through the sub [amp]. The unit has always done this from time to time, and I used to be able to fix the problem by turning it off and on again, but recently doing that no longer works. any one experienced this problem?
Can I reload/update the software? and if anyone is thinking of buying one DON'T!!! I have not been happy with it |
I had this problem with this junk unit, returned to the seller long time ago.
This unit had an amp build in cost the factory amp to over loaded and shut down. Fixing the problem ... You need to go back with the stock,or you have to disconnect the factory amp, then just use the unit to power all the speakers with all new aftermarket amp for the sub....but again this is a lot of work... just trash it. |
X5 radio
If you want to spend money on a bmw radio, go ahead, I had a local radio company put a new, JVC ax77, or close to a model such as that, they can use all the wires, they make adapters that plug directly into the bmw harness, then upgrade to a 500 watt amp with some low profile speakers, which I used a box that has 2 speakers, thats removable for getting the spare out. MUCH nicer and the sound is like humming, then screaming, big big difference, and less that putting another factory in!!!

Just a -Guess- I have not done this, but is sounds like the BMW amp didn't like the input it was getting from the Hua from the get-go (too high voltage would be my guess, unless you did get an 'open' circuit somewhere, but those tend to be obvious and crackle/buzz).
Swapping the BMW amp for a quality aftermarket is worth a look, unless you really don't like the Hua at all. You can simple-patch it in to the existing system and see how it works for a day or two. If all is good, figger a way to mount it properly and you're gold until the head dies. |
thanks for the input.
I do have a aftermarket amp I can try out, definitely a pain to wire up. but I suppose it's the best thing to do as I don't really want to buy another stereo and we do like having the nav. |

I've installed a Hualingan and I'm having the following problem (discovered so far)
- Radio sometimes/some places works very good, sometimes do not catch any station. Changing the radio area does not make a difference. Why? Where did you connect radio antenna to? - When I touch the MOVIE icon, and in order to locate the movies file, I press the file icon, but it refers me to the right SD (GPS) card. How can I choose the left SD card? - In the volume settings, what is SUB? - In the GPS FILE PATH page, there is a PK tick, what is this? I couldn't notice any difference when I tick/untick that red box? - I can't read from my iPod. Is this because it's old type (model A1059) or because it's formatted as exFAT not FAT32? - I tried to format my iPod, but laptop says "Windows unable to format". Is there a way I don't know? - When I start my car, the unit shows some image (previously I chose from navigation images). How can I change this image e.g. put BMW logo that appears when DVD loads? Can I upload image from SD for example? If you answer some questions I'll be very thankful |
