My vote would be no to all. :thumbdown To me it would look too "busy" and clutter up the clean lines that set the X apart from other SUV's. I am a big fan of the "less is more" approach.
Just my two cents.............

dam guys you really shut that one down. ok well i hope your not against the rbs and what would be wrong with the rear seat covers? more like seat savers

X5Jay 12-29-2005 02:51 PM

Running boards - great. Rear seat covers - I suppose, if you need them. Do you carry pets or kids back there? If that's the case, then sure - good investment. If not, well, it reminds me of the plastic my aunt had on all her living room furniture. Was she saving what she spent so much money on, for someone else to enjoy?......

BMW X5 12-29-2005 02:54 PM

lol good point, well i'm going on a ski trip and everyone is going to be sitting in my car with their wet equipment etc unless i make them all change and risk getting labeled as well you know

statdoc 12-29-2005 03:05 PM

The wind/rain guards--no. The mud flaps--I will be installing some on my X5 soon. :)

BMW X5 12-29-2005 03:10 PM

Absolutely. If I didn't, I would face excommunication from X5World!!

Now wait a minute here peoples :) ! I have the rainguards on my X5 and they don't look as bad as you make them out to be. I didn't get the ugly stick on the outside with bubble gum ones, but the ones that fit inside the window channel. Check them here: http://www.ekaz.net/images/DSC00019.JPG
As for the rest, aluminum running boards a definite, sunroof deflector-NO, same goes for the rear seat cover.

They definitely look nicer than the usual style. Still, not my preference.:dunno:

BMW X5 12-29-2005 03:57 PM

ya those are the ones i was talking about the OEM BMW ones that go in the channel ekaz do your windows have fine scratches at the top?

I have my windows tinted as well and have not noticed any scratches of any kind.

I got mine from here: http://www.weathertech.com/store/veh...pt_choice_id=0

They have clear and dark I believe, I have the dark. They're of good quality and haven't had any issues with them.

I love my OEM rear seat back cover. Somewhat of a pain to install, but not too bad. Now, I do not have to worry about the two kids in the back and a soon to be born in the middle. :)

The material is a strong canvas and fits perfectly.

BMW X5 12-29-2005 04:49 PM

ya i think i might start with the seats simply because i dont care about myself but certain people should just walk and those are the ones im worried about

vinuneuro 12-29-2005 05:01 PM

I think the window rain guard look good. As far as the mudflaps go, they look hideous on the X5. They make our vehicles look like we plan on going offroading or pretend to.

That is what is so great about personal taste. We all like the base X5, but have interesting individual preferences. No problem!!

look what i started

Quicksilver 12-29-2005 08:35 PM

Rear seat cover? Essential for those who have no respect for your X, Kids who will be kids, and pets. I guess if I had to haul this kind of cargo on a regular basis I would get a Van. But thats Just MHO

Parker 12-30-2005 11:44 AM

:slap: Here is a dumb question. What are the rain guards for??

BMW X5 12-30-2005 11:55 AM

so you can keep the windows open a bit while its raining without getting rain in your car yet having enough ventilation for windows not to fog. also its useful in the summer u leave the windows just a crack open so the car has some circulation i know we got the aux ventilation feature but hey u can never have too much. as for Barry i dont carry that on a regular basis so no i dont want a van lol but i figure i can just put the cover on when i go on trips requiring some protection

Parker 12-30-2005 12:04 PM

Interesting. I guess they would be useful, but I still think they clutter up the look of the car. Never the less you have piqued my curiosity about the seat cover. We are expecting our first in a few weeks and the thought of cinching a baby seat down onto the leather had me concerned about marking it up. Perhaps the seat cover wouldn't be a bad idea............
