questions about dash & trunk electrics
 

i'm a new Australian owner of a 2004 X5. I got the car at auction, stolen/recovered. I've got it going OK and seems good mechanically, but I have wiring issues to solve . I'm a professional mechanic so in can read circuit diagrams etc

The stereo unit in the dash has been stolen and the wires cut.
can anyone help me identify if it had a navigator in it??. It has been suggested by other threads, that because it has a hinged lid at the top, this is the basic stereo system. OK???

also, whatever was bolted into the compartment on the left side of the trunk has been taken. from other topics, i can see that this is where the Navigator DVD lives. There is an amplifier or such right down in the bottom of that compartment, and it seems intact, but is an unused blue plug and a handful of cut wires. again, any clues would help

on the right side, all the fuses and relays seem intact, but there are screw holes where something was fitted, and a unused blue plug down near the floor. what goes into this??

In the tire well, there is a white plug at the front and a black plug at the rear...what goes into these??

If you need any help with the Austrian selling the cabling let me know. I am located in Austria too.

In the rear left would be where the Nav DVD drive and the 6 disc CD changer would be. In the right rear would be the subwoofer. But from the looks of your dash, it appears that it did not have nav

Man, It's painfull to see those harnesses cut. Maybe you could just get the stuff from a doner at the junkyard and splice back in...

Im an ozzie and can help.

1) because you have the flap, you system is only a Business Radio unit, no NAV. I actually have the equipment that would fit if you are interested in buying.

2) Picture with fuses.. Nothing goes in there unless in the US they have DSP and a sub-woofer fits.

3) Other side.. nothing either. if you have a NAV unit, then the nav unit is housed in there. Also, the CD stacker is housed in that area as well, but not sure you have that with the Business Radio (I didnt). You wont have an amplifier there (only US with DSP have the amp), but it might be the bluetooth unit.

There are plenty of wiring diagrams if you search a bit (I dont have the links handy at the moment).

Feel free to PM if you want more answers. I have done a Nav retrofit and worked out most of the cables/wires were.
