Timing gasket

What is a fair price to replace the timing cover gasket on a '04 X5 4.4 the dealer wants $2600+/-, I think that is a rip off even with valve cover gasket's.

A lot of stuff needs to be removed from the V8 motors to get at those gaskets, $2600 sounds right for BMW dealer quote. The N62 engine ('04 on E53) requires even more labor to do many repairs and the labor costs go WAY up. Many DIYers stick with the M62 due to the easier/quicker repair times and fewer parts to fail. Get a quote from a good indy shop.
