proud new x5 owner

You may have read my previous post where I talked about my search for an x5 and how to choose one, and now I am pleased to let everyone now, that thanks to your help, i am now the owner of a 2004 x5 3.0 auto with panoramic sunroof with only 90k miles! and under $13k! this goes do show that if you are patient, you will find the perfect ride!
With that there are two items that eed to adressed to make new rig perfect! first my red BRAKE light is on, with the accompaning message "check brake lines". I knew about this problem from th previous owner, and researched before I bought it. I had the brakes inspect, and they have plenty of pad left, brake job done 3 months ago. Is it likely that the brake pad sensor were not replaced if done my a non bmw brake shop, and that could be source of my brake message?
Second item is that the ac blower stays on after the car is shut down, is this some kind of electric gremlin, or maybe a feature of the car? It doesnt bother me that bad, I just pull the fuse to stop it from killling my battery, is there a way to make the fan turn off with the car?
Otherthan that I couldnt be more thrilled with my purchase, even with the 3.0 the car is so smooth! and the stock suspension is so tight it handles like a dream! I love tge look of the car, and how I tower over other cars as I drive down the road! I am looking forward to many happy years with my SAV.

:band: :worthless:

Congrats! Nice job on the price! Hopefully you will get some pictures of it up soon. Also, since you have your own E53 now, please place the info in your signature.

Year: 2004
Type: E53 3.0
Trans: Auto
Option: Premium, Cold weather, etc

If you want to see all the options your new whip came with, send me the last 7 digits of your VIN.

As for the brake light. It could be the sensor. Those sensors are fragile, so something may not be talking to each other.

And the AC running like that is normal, for a period. So it should only stay on 5 to 10 mins. If it stays on longer then that, then get back to us.

Hope you enjoy!

That's awesome congrats fellow E53 owner!

Congrats! Finding the perfect used vehicle is tough and you did enjoy it.

I agree that it could be the sensor. I have had that happen where the pads are fine but I get a brake warning. Just keep an eye on the pads.

So its a been a week or so of ownership, and i thought i would report to how its been going so far
First of all the car is amazing, i was worried because a lot of the reviews on the 3.0 said it did not have power, but i wanted to get the best mileage possible so i chose to go with a 3.0. While it is certainly not a track car by any means, i find the engine to be very punchy with a nice power band up in the top revs, and overall when i need to get up and going it does the job just dandy, and looks great doing it!
The handling is amazing! The suspension is nice and firm, and the steering is extremely responsive, it feels more like a sports saloon than a 5000 pound truck. I took it up into the mountains nearby, and it negotiated the curves almost as well as my audi a4.
Overall i am loving this car, and me and my wife actually have to fight over who gets to drive it, which is funny cause she is not usually picky about what she drives(she has a kia). There are a few little quirks, such as the brake light always on or the check brake and warning lights that go off every once and a while, but on the whole it is an amazing ride and i am looking for many more happy miles to come!

Quick question, i would like to get satellite radio in my car, but i do not want to install an ugly aftermarket satellite reciever into my dash, is there any way to integrate a satellite radio into my current stock radio?

SlickGT1 07-29-2012 06:10 PM

Yes there is. Search for satellite radio retrofit. I know my truck didn't have it when new, but it was put in sometime before I bought it.
