Adding a factory sub to a non DSP system?

I'm deciding if I want to buy a factory sub from a member on here, but I'm not sure if the sub is plug and play on my car. I have a 2005 3.0 with no DSP and NAV. He says some x5s are pre-wired for factory subs, but he wasn't able to find the harness on his car. I tried looking and found a blue plug on the right compartment, but turns out AMP labeling is just the company that does bmw's harnesses.

I've searched and searched and have no idea how that plug looks like or what I'm looking for. I've asked the questions in the FS section, but I'm thinking I would yield more results by asking here.

This is the blue plug I have found. It would be awesome if somebody could tell me what this plug does.

Ask the seller to take a pic of the connection. I would take mine out, but I really don't have the time. Maybe Friday. Refresh this on Friday if you still don't have an answer. Maybe I'll have time.

This is the only pic I could find of the connection on the enclosure. Hope this helps.

thanks!! I guess my plug doesn't fit there.

I did ask the seller, the reason he is selling is because he bought it but doesn't have the harness to connect to the sub. He said some x5s have the harness pre-wired though. The only reason I can think is that his is pre-facelift and doesn't come with the harness? Mine is 2005 so it might? Just a prediction though.

Does anybody know where the harness is coming out of the AMP? I can barely fit my hands down where the AMP is, so I dunno how effective it would be for me trying to search for any harnesses below the amp..

i'm not familiar with the facelift models but the pre facelift model in the rear has 3 nuts you remove and the plastic try in front of the amp comes out. Makes the amp very accessible.

I will definitely give it a try sometime this week to see if I can locate a harness coming out of the amp that can connect to the sub.

thanks!!

Patrickkc- I m understand that you are trying to get the factory sub. But in all honesty that factory sub was tuned to work with the dsp system. Meaning 1. it doesnt put out alot of bass. 2. you sare going to over stress your non dsp amp. The DSP amp size is considerably larger. 3the sound quality that it will output will be of level of a 6x9. Unless you are dead set on this project. I would go aftermarket sub. I know how it is to want everything factory. I bought a dsp amp just so i can have the option when i retrofit my navi. I could go upstairs and wire my harness together for you so you can see the sub wiring it is all part of the DSP with navi main harness. it is a black connector that you are looking for

thanks for the input nigwhyrito. I actually just wanted the factory sub because it was cheap, and I thought it was plug and play. But now I'm thinking maybe I will just get an aftermarket sub. If I get an aftermarket sub, would that stress out my factory amp as well?

A reason I haven't looked into aftermarket is the costs. If I have to buy a new amp, sub + labour, it all adds up very quickly.

I put a aftermarket amp and sub into mine. Tapped a LOC into the sub signal wires and have had zero issues thus far. Just follow these directions http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/...ctory-amp.html
