Battery Light On

I have a 2001 x5 4,4. I changed the Battery and the alternator 8 Months ago and the battery light is still on the instrument cluster. I went to my Indy shop, he told me the battery is charging normally.

How can i reset the battery light in the instrument Cluster....:dunno:

I just replaced the alternator and battery on my 2003 3.0 last weekend and the light went away at start up.

Check to see if the cable to the alternator is free and clear (not touching anything else). Also, try taking the negative terminal off the battery for about 10 min and put back on an see if it the light stays on? Other than that, I'm out of ideas?

Good luck!!

Search for UNLOCK OBC. Lower case. Most likely the instructions you find, will tell you which test is to monitor voltage. You unlock OBC once, its stays unlocked. You can monitor your voltage when driving. If it isn't around 13-14V, your alternator is effed up. I am thinking voltage regulator by the way. But you need to do the above test first.
