Need help for AC problems
My 2001 BMW X5 with 168K miles and my AC is not as cold two weeks ago. When I start and check the ac compressor, first ac compressor is not working but after drive ten minutes I feel the cold air working because the temperature gauge is dropping. When I park the car and engine running, ac compressor kick off and on. I can hear the sound when ac clutch is on and off. Could someone tell me is the ac compressor is going bad or something I look into before replace the ac compressor. I can replace the ac compressor myself and let the shop remove and put back the freon after replace ac compressor to saved money. How much is the new ac compressor cost? I can get a new denso ac compressor for $329 with core return.
Thanks, Uhenry1 |
Try charging the system with freon and see if that helps. Also note if the pressure drops while or shortly after loading more freon. May have a leak and the clutch wont engage or will cycle on and off if the freon is too low. If all else fails, get a leak test on your ac system and then you can narrow it down to the compressor going bad.

Try having a professional diagnose the problem.
Because without testing for leaks and checking the pressures, no one here can tell u what is wrong. We could guess, but they are expensive guesses. Just get it done right. Don't refill from the cans a the parts store, you have no way of knowing if you over or under fill the system. Sent from my SGH-i917 using Board Express |
I will take to the BMW dealer for diagnose next week and post what the problems.

Dude dealer is going to rape you. Go to any auto AC shop. If they have equipment, they can do this no problem.
