Panoramic shade $1880

So I went to the dealer yesterday, just to get a quote on how much to buy and install the shade for the panoramic sunroof. They quoted me $1880. Looks like I'll be buying the parts from realoem and installing it myself. They also told me I had a OBD recall, so I had that done, and I also had them look into my suspension, everything is fine. Surprisingly, I didn't get charged for anything and got a free car wash out of it. It was a good experience, but damn it's ridiculously expensive for a sunroof shade!
Have any members here ever had to replace their shade?

Well I think the procedure is to remove the liner and the cassette and such to install the shade. It's a lot of labor.

As for the recall, I was presented with a build sheet and recall notices. There was one left open for OBD. So I called and such, but now they are saying it doesn't have it.. So need to get that sheet from the dealer and take a look.

The mark-up from the $tealer is too much. RealOEM doesn't sell part though. The price is only for reference. I have an 01 so no panoramic roof for me.

brunof,
Was that SC dlr Century in G'Ville, by any chance?
If so, they are hugely overpriced, and having been there a few times, I wouldn't take my 25 yr old RedMax leaf blower in to that 'service' dept, fwiw.

Yes it was Century BMW. I'm in the Greenville area, do you know of any good indy shops around?

No experience with G'ville area Indies, as I live in the Mtns of western NC, west of Asheville. I use an excellent Indie in A'ville, but that shop is probably not handy for you.

A quick net look turns up a couple G'ville Indies, but I have no personal experience with them:
Protech Motorsports

European Autoworks - Greenville, SC

QwAg,
Glad I cracked you up!
Actually, my 25+ year old, made in Japan RedMax backpack blower runs better than my Rolex: 3 spark plugs & 4 oil filter clean outs in all that time. Starts on first pull...

I realize banging on dlrs is frowned upon by some, but it seemed like Century went out of their way to screw me around: short oil fills, bad service, dent in bumper, no idea on the fan recall, etc. After my oe warranty expired, so did my reason to ever go there again.
