Removing hitch
If I remove the hitch the vehicle came with, will there be any programming necessary?
|
There's no programming when it's installed...so I don't think so.
If it's an OEM hitch, you won't have the parts to make the bumper work structurally without the hitch....unless you can find some on ebay or someone that went the opposite way. If it's something that was bolted to the bottom, you should be fine. |

There is programming to tell the DSC and the backup sensors you have a trailer hooked up, but I doubt you need to delete it (it wasn't mandatory programming if the previous owner installed the hitch themselves).
You need to find someone who wants to install the hitch so you can swap parts. It's a PITA to do though, so I wouldn't take it off unless you absolutely have to. Plus, it might come in handy some day... |
Agreed removing the hitch is very involved and requires finding the original pieces as the OEM hitch is mostly a new bumper, not a bolt on. Why remove it anyway?

I switched from hitchless to hitch and have a few of the pieces still sitting around. I have the shocks and the support, you'll need the bumpter insert.
