Help with 4.6is Front Spoiler Installation on Facelift

Picked up a set of 4.6is spoilers from mrbmwx5 and I'm trying to mount them but I'm running into a bit of a problem installing the front. It seems that the tabs that the that go into the lower mesh grill won't align with out breaking the tabs off. I searched a little bit and others seemed to have the same problem but no one posted how they worked around it. If anyone has any advice that would be great. BTW please nobody tell me you can't fit the 4.6is on a facelift as many people have done it before..

Thanks!

IIRC, they just broke the tabs and used caulk/sealer to hold it up. Search and you'll see what I mean.

BTW .. Tom can tell you exaclty what you need to do since you bought them from him.

Post from Tom.

(not mine)

The front piece I got from Tom has all the tabs removed already except the 8 or so on the top (that look like a horseshoe) that go into the lower mesh grill. I wasn't sure if these were supposed to be removed as well..

For the facelift. You need to trim some of those taps on top of the spoiler you got from me to make it seat.
Call me if you need more help.

Bump from the dead.

I am in the same boat, facelift X5 and got a 4.6is front spoiler, however even after trimming tabs it does not sit near flush on the lower bumper. It doesn't seem wide enough and as a result, it sort of sticks out and doesn't sit flush anywhere.

I could only find one thread with actual photos of the install but sadly there isn't any mention of this issue.

Has anyone else fit this combination of parts successfully?

It's directly off of a 4.6is so it's a factory part.

Very kind of you to offer, sorry I missed this response as I had to get it into the paint shop rather quickly.

I ended up having to trim the section of the lip that slots onto the factory 4.4 grille. Even without the clips that go around the grille slats, it was too deep, pushing on the factory grille not allowing it to sit flush.

After removing a 0.5" strip across essentially up to the ednge of where the horseshoes that circle around the grille originate, making the section one straight line. Kind of looks better imo, but if anyone else has this same issue as I do, this took care of it and was the only way to get it to fit.
