A question about locks whilst I'm on!

Also,

My passenger side central locking seems a bit slow at times? Sometimes it won't unlock at all and other times the lock will pop only half way up (moving slowly). I can still pull the handle from the inside so it's not as bad as my 330 that would deadlock you inside!!!!

This problem affects both the front and rear doors on my 2002 4.4i se

Thanks

The door lock actuators on those doors will probably need to be replaced. Not a difficult DIY.

I'm noticing that too on my front passenger door. :tsk:

Had my door actuator replaced under warranty. Dealer said it's a common issue they see.

Anyone know a cheap source for the actuator?

I've replaced my passenger one with a used one I scooped up on ebay but the problem creeped back.

I'm hoping it's just the actuator and not something wrong with the central locking module.

If you lock and unlock a couple of times does it become responsive again?

I've been stalling until I see that the door doesn't lock using the remote, which it hasn't yet. (Old one did once which spurred me to change it.)

TIA,

Semi-hijack...

My front passenger lock will definately mechanically lock, however the "locked/unlocked indicator" won't move down. It's in a continuous up position unless I push it down with my fingers. Has something just come loose? This can't be the actuator, right? Thanks guys.

So the actuator module is this big black plastic box/blob.

The lock "indicator stick" is on a metal shaft that connects to a little connection on the actuator module.

So if you indicator stick is independant of the locking mechanism, it's possible that only that part broke but in order to fix it you'll probably have to repalce the whole thing.

I'm going to try and tear into my old actuator module sometime to see if I can figure out what's making it lazy.

I'm still trying to get recomendations for a cheap source for a new door lock actuator module? Anyone? Bueller?

Asked my dealer - said typical problem, that he keeps them in stock, "not much" for cost of replacement - figure I'll have it replaced when I get the instrument cluster replaced (the btm LED display growing worse + gas gauge sticks time to time)
