Front door speakers

I need to replace the at least one front door speaker in my daughter's X5. Anyone know the cost of the factory unit?

Are the factory speakers decent, or can I gain a noticible improvement by upgrading to some better quality speakers?

In my current DD, I used MB Quarts all around, which I was extremely happy with, but those are VERY costly, so I'm open to other suggestions. And from the size of the speaker grill, it looks like these are a bit smaller. Are these 5"??? I don't think I want components either; just replacement drivers.

The speakers size are 5.25 and sit inside of a pod. Before you replace purchase a set, get te speakers out and check the soldered wires on the actual speaker. They break off sometimes Due to the audio outputs and amplifier you can only go OE or upgrade to the BavAuto speakers without having to gut out the entire system. Speakers are 2ohms and it's dam near impossible to find an after market supplier. Just search the fleBay for a used pair or go BavAuto. There might be a few members on here that upgraded and possibly still have their OE speakers.

I concur with Cisco, BavAuto has a fine replacement. EBay should also have a few available. There is also craigslist.

The oem speakers are close to 6 1/4" or 160mm. Certain euro brands will fit within the speaker pod, but you risk frying them due to the difference in resistance. Suggest you look at Bavarian Soundworks. Expensive solution, but the end product would be great.

Thanks guys. I am getting static from the LF speaker, it's not just a dead speaker. I think I'll look for those BavAutos.

BSW or Bavarian Soundwerks has good deals on speaker packages that are a direct fit.
