Panorama Roof shattered on a country road.

Anybody else experience the front glass (Not the rear)
part of a Panorama roof shattering? Did you fix it yourself?
Or have it done? What did it cost

Surprise surprise. Driving down a country road at about
50MPH an hour ago and we hear a loud "POP" sounded like a
blow out but we couldn't see any problem.

So after a minute or so I pulled over to take a look and without
getting out of the X I had this feeling what it might be. So I opened
the Panorama Roof just slightly to see what's up and sure enough
the glass is shattered. So I got out and it looks like it does when you
hit safety glass. Shattered but no holes, still in tack, but i can tell that
just the front glass is the only part that is shattered. I know it's going to
collapse at some point. So I took the chance and drove home and it
survived without breaking up.

So..... now I gotta see #1 how much it's going to coast to replace,
#2 Weather comp and collision is gonna cover the cost.

Well the glass part itself is at least $600. I think it is 3 or 4 hours to R&R the glass @ ~$120/hr. So probably looking at a $1000.00. Un less a pick and pull has one and if you can do it yourself. I think you have the pop the cassette out to get the glass to slide in, no?

How the heck did that happen anyways.

Glad it didn't result in any injuries. Did the frame flex due to a road bump or something? Very odd!

Something probably hit it. Maybe a falling bird, or a mega shit by a bird. Maybe something fell from a tree. I know it can't be bumps and stuff, because on NYC roads, I feel like I offroad every day. Even hit the occasional jump.

No clue, don't know what frame flex is.

it was easier in the Big Chebby days, they creaked to hell-and-gone when you ran a large pothole and the frame flexed (had a camaro pop open a passenger door on a gravel road).

Basically, did you run over a hole or swale in the road that caused the vehicle to twist noticeably, guessing not and tend to agree with the falling object idea - never heard of this one, and I think I've read 'em all..
