So i got the self leveling error
 

I got the self leveling error but my springs still seem fine. all four corners still look ok. maybe a little sagging in the rear. I went ahead and ordered a set of rear arnott springs anyway. I checked the fuse in the back and they look fine. the compressor does kick on sometimes though. i haven't tried checking the fuse behind the spare. anything else i should check. and should i order some new struts for the rear?

I would just pull the fuse and clean the contacts of the fuse with some sand paper. It may just be a fuse connection issue......hit a bump and loose connectivity (example).

So i checked the fuses in the rear and i noticed that on the 30 amp fuse for self leveling it is missing one of the contacts for the fuse. There is only 1 fuse contact instead of two. could someone check if they are missing theirs or if this is how it is before i buy a used fuse box off ebay

Looking at the fuse block, if its the one all the way to the right, 30amp mine is the same - one contact.

BTW .. if you look on some other fuses some only have one contact too.

I would get it scanned and see where it leads you. I wouldn't just go replacing your whole suspension.

what type of scanner do i need? a regular scanner just wont do the job.

I can't speak about other options because I'm not familiar with them. However, the GT1 is what dealers used in the past. It can tell you BMW specific codes/faults. Also, once it finds faults it usually has a Test plan to follow. In this way it will more than likely lead you, through testing step by step, to identify the problem(s).

Failing that, go to a shop/mech that is familiar with BMWs/X5s specifically and depending on what diagnostic equipment they can do similar diagnostics.

Diagnosing properly is the key to prevent wasting time and money.

I went to a Indy shop and got the codes read. It came back with EHC 74- accumulator pressure remains constant. Cleared code and reset system. Pump runs but is noisy.

Not sure how easy it is. Hopefully someone who's done it will chime in. Do some research and pay attention if you need to have the part coded when replacing. I'm thinking probably not but I don't know for sure.

Meanwhile, try this guy as he's given Xoutpost members good prices on dealer parts in the past. You can use him to compare prices. Me, I prefer dealer item than deal with ebay - especially if not much of a price difference.
