X393S Connector Pinout (trailer wiring)
Hi, i'm trying to find the pinout for the X393S connector that you would hook up a trailer harness to. i have all the Hitch installation manuals and while they give you wiring diagrames with lots of numbers and codes, i have not been able to decipyer these. i have been lookig for ths information for months now!
What im looking for is a simple 'pin 1 is ground, pin 2 is stop lights' etc etc etc if you follow what i mean.... Can any one please help me? The connector is a 12-pin connector. |
Ok, so i worked it out myself :)
Incase anyone else wants to know... of the X393S plug: Pin 1 - Left Turn Indicator Pin 2 - ? Pin 3 - Negative Pin 4 - Right Turn Indicator Pin 5 - ? Pin 6 - Stop/Brake Lamps Pin 7 - Running Lamps/Side Markers Pin 8 - Reverse/Back Up Lamps Pin 9 - Positive Pin 10 - N/C Pin 11 - Electric Brake Signal Pin 12 - ? |
You have 8 pins assigned, if I remember correctly, there are only 6 pins present in the connector in the trunk coming from the trailer module and 7 pins in the harness going to the trailer hitch... I wonder, if I am missing any pin - but when i had a trailer, al the lights were working fine... with a converter to US 4 pin plug...

i cant get pin 11 to work on mine. everything works OK except for trailer brakes. thanks for the posted info

pin 11 is what was hooked up on my factory loom for the trailer harness that came from ECS. this pin was not populated in my X5 E53 2001, rather i put the signal from my brake controller to this pin/hole. but this is the factory recommended location ;)
i installed the Tekshona Prodigy P3 brake controller and it gets its signal from the LCM as per the instructions floating around. |

I'm thinking of making a 9V battery connection terminal using a Pollak 7 pin connector so in the situation where a battery is dead or disconnected in vehicle and doors are locked then this device could be installed into the US round Pollak connector to provide a little power to the Locking System to allow a remote key to unlock the doors for entry. Mind you my door handle carrier and lock tumbler work perfect for me... But never know when this could be handy (or for someone else to build) Thanks for your knowledge. |

https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...iler-lighting/ Clockwork, I have a 13-pin Euro connector on mine and it works as you suggest - you can power systems and/or charge the battery (which I do) via the trailer connector. Not sure a standard PP9 9v battery will power the locks - I doubt it can supply enough current. Might be better off using a small 12v power bank. |
