OK enough with all this performance talk. if you wanted a fast car you should have bought an m3. Be realistic and look for tastful upgrades that you enjoy for the right price with out running the car into the ground

What about the OE Tuning performance tune? I have absolutely NO idea how good their software is, and if it can achieve the claimed results, BUT, they do claim about a 6% HP & Torque increase, and it costs $690. I would call them to discuss.

^^Hilarious!!!

pezho what about a shot of nitrous? I've ran 50-150 shot on many bimmer motors (E46 and E36 M3, E39 M5, E53 4.4) with no ill side effects. I'm sure your 4.4 could handle a shot as well.

NO.

OE looks like what in looking for I just need to find out more about it.

And the preventative part. Yes I've already done a lot too it myself.

The way I see it theres no point in adding little performance parts that won't make a difference. I would spend that money into the looks of the car. Maybe lower it, wheel arches, etc. Thats just my point of view

I'd bet that with the combination of intake, exhaust, and a tune, you could easily add 15% or more to the HP and torque. On one of my other cars, which started with about the same HP as a 4.4, I was able to achieve way more than 15% improvement with just simple N/A mods. Those mods included intake, headers, cat back exhaust, intake plenum and elimitating the intake baffle. I had free flow cats, which added even more power, but they were too loud. The sum of those mods is way over $1k though. The headers for that car's V6 were $1,500 alone, the exhaust another $1,500.

I don't think this would be insignificant; it would put you very close to 4.6i power with your 4.4. Your but-dyno would definately feel the difference, and throttle response and sound woud be much better.

Then again you just could sell your 4.4, and buy a 4.6 for about $2-3K more, (given equal mileage and condition). Given the cost of modding a 4.4 to the hilt N/A, it would probably be cheaper.

Exactly Skyline!

The bottom line is that there's no magic pill to take with the 4.4 to get meaningful gains. The 4.6 provided the performance and appearance for the racer enthusiast.
I'm not sure what the cost difference was between the 4.4 vs 4.6...but I bet it was pretty significant back in the day. As you mentioned, today you can get a 4.6 for just a few grand more. So, get rid of the 4.4 and get the 4.6 or better yet the 4.8!

OP, try calling Active Autowerke, Turner Motorsport, BimmerWorld...or look up Jim Conforti and see if they have any tunes that can get some meaningful numbers for you.
I'm guessing they'll have something that sounds good...but real world, not sure how beneficial the tune will be.
Now, if you could gain some MPG out of the tune and not lose ground...that might be worth spending the money!;)
