air con stops, but works the next day
 

hi guys. we went on a trip yesterday, from Newcastle to Sydney, about 1/12 hours, 140kms away. all working fine when we left, but after about 1 hour 15 we started getting hot, and discovered that no air was coming from the vents. the fan still worked at all speeds, but no air was coming out anywhere.

we parked the car at our accommodation and took the train into the city for the day. next day about 16 hours later we started the car to come home, and the air con worked fine, no problems at all.

Any ideas, thanks

Sounds like a switch is either stuck or the FSR is intermittently working. Please your your info in your sig such as I have done.

I get the same thing here in NZ on certain humid days. After a long drive (>1 hour) the air stops blowing - turning the fan up makes more noise but the air doesn't come out. It's caused by moisture freezing on the evaporator, turning it to a block of ice. If you turn the AC off but keep the fan on for 15 mins or so it will defrost. The system is designed to prevent this, but it still happens - could be that the evaporator temperature sensor is faulty or out of position. It has only happened to me twice in the last year, so I haven't bothered looking into it.

I've also noticed that when this happens I can see condensation coming out of the vents. Depending on how humid/hot the day is...sometimes the vents dispel fog like vapor.
To cure, I just turn off the ac button for at least 5 minutes and allow the system to thaw. It's weird, cause after doing this "reset"...I don't have any more issues. Weird
If there's a fix, I'd like to know. I was thinking maybe I was a bit low on freon and the system was freezing. However, since it doesn't happen all time...that's probably not the issue?!
