Navi is lost

2006 navi is lost! After searching the forum for things to check, The almanac says yes,it sees 8 sats, but the signal is 0 excpt for 1 sat at 6ish. I have tried a new external antenna(That was the cheap & easy thing to try first) with no change. Anybody have any other ideas? Thanks

Did you get tints.

clward1 10-15-2012 08:20 PM

What are tints?

Tinted windows.

It has tinted windows that were installed 4 years ago- The navi started getting lost 2 weeks ago- I also power cycled it(pulled the fuse) & still acts like it does not know where it is at? Other than being lost & it has no idea where north is at,it acts normal. Thanks for responding

Magnetic pole shifting got your unit confused? :dunno:

Thanks Mr Slick-I gotta look at the gyro reading, but everything else seems to be working. I have tried a aftermarket antenna and no change. If the gyro reading does not jive, then what? If that is part of the nav unit it will prolly get abandoned in place (used navs are 3-400$) .Not gonna risk that. The touchscreen window mount is lookin good at that point! Thanks for the help

I've also read that a failing map disk can cause these issues as well. Try to find a newer disk on Ebay, and give that a shot.

I had this problem. I replaced the disc and problem went away. At first I could remove the disc and put it back in and the problem would go away for a time. Later on that didn't work so I bought the latest disc that I didn't have anyway and the problem did not return. There are suppliers on Ebay that have 100% rating and the discs are about $60.
