New aftermarket NAV DVD? Woooow

Hi there,

My current OS is MKIII V20.1 on my E53 model 2002. photo

I searched for any updates or upgrades, found only V32, NavTweak, splash screens, night mode, 3-D view bla bla bla  all are risky & not guaranteed and most importantly; not a serious change :dunno:

Plus, the map CD I got is not covering all area here and has almost no further updates due to the old OS that I've :banghead:

Yesterday I got a ride with my friend's Toyota Landcruiser 2010; his navigation is from a different world :yikes:

I was thinking to get rid of all this old technology and try a totally new thing :D

I found this DVD Nav unit, and I want to hear from you guys about it. Did anyone buy similar unit? Is it fitting ok on mine? is it really plug-and-play device?any concerns any suggestions? any info can be valuable. I've another couple of questions about it if anyone can help

:p:
Thanks.

By the way, I got this OEM used screen for sale. no scratched no dead pixels all button working very good condition

Like you said, your car is a 2002, your friend has a 2010, a lot has changed since 2002, there was no Iphone in 2002 for example, now we can't live without them...lol!! You just have old technology in your car, the aftermarket unit in your link will work only if you don't have a DSP sound system, don't forget to look at the Dynavin system.

I don't have DSP, but let me ask you this: do I really need to connect my 17-pin plug in trunk all the way under seats to the in-dash unit? This requires too many removals right? any suggestions?

I've seen the Dynavin. Except its high price; it seems good. The only difference I could see is that the Dynavin uses Android while mine uses Windows CE.

I'm not sure about that, I don't have one, the unit in your link is called a Hualingan, it's a Chinese made unit. Do a search on the forum, there's a long thread and several other threads about this unit, hopefully you got the latest version, it's called the 4th Gen, they fixed several problems they had in the earlier versions.

The nav in my 2001 Lexus was decades ahead of the BMW.

Yea do a search on the units you are looking for. Be ready to get in there to put this in. And make sure you extend your obc harness to your globe box so that you retain your stock functions.

It's not a big deal, you'll just lose some functions from the MID/OBC, I've never used my MID. If you like to track things like gas mileage you might miss it, but seeing that your in Jordan I think gas is pretty cheap over there...lol!!

Guess what? I'm now in Saudi Arabia where a gallon is 60 cents :D

Have you thought about getting a smartphone?
Most have navigation already installed. Or get
A Garmin. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/

I think the only way you can tell which Gen it is is by looking at the buttons. Read the thread in the link below, it's from a U.K. X5 website, the thread starter installed the latest version of this unit in his X and explains how to tell the difference. He also has a video on youtube, it shows all of the functions, I think you'll like it.

I've just installed the unit. But the CDC changer has no voice. I can see the new unit reading the CDs correctly, but no voice! How can I fix this?

Use the search function on the website, search for Hualingan, there are several threads about installing this unit.

I would not put these xingling craps in my E53. Want iphone, bluetooth? Get intrave 2, or Dice.... But not these xinglings.... I had one, promised a lot, in my Grand Cherokee. The ipod interface was a crap, cd interface, another crap, for each device, a different interface, at the end, stopped to work after 4 months.... I did throw it in the trash.
Never more such xingling devices.
