Have any of you used their clear-out service for the front headlights? I just want my headlights cleared out. I don't even want the angel eyes. They are quoting me $425 for me to take my lights out and ship them to their shop for the clear-out service. Does that seem right? That seems like an insane price to me. I can understand paying that much for a set of headlights supplied by them -- but just for the service??? If that is how much the market rate is for clearing just the headlights, then I will live with the orange forever.

Someone posed a link the other day on HOW to do this yourself. I am a big DIY guy but the amount of work looks to be a real pain in the butt. My .02

It is alot of work but you will save some money doing it yourself. I think taking out the headlight assembly is about the same work as taking apart the casing. I bought a heat gun at home depot for $25. I also bought a set of headlights with casing only on ebay for about $80. I kinda messed up the first one I did but when you put it back you wont notice it that much.


I found out the whole trick is to heat all around first before trying to pry it open. Dont hold the gun to close or you will melt the clear plastic. Just even amount of heat all around until the glue is soft then it is very easy to get open. First one I did took me about 30 minutes and a bunch of sweat. Second one I did came apart in 5 minutes.

As much as I like to do my own mods, I'm too risk averse to try that job myself. I checked around for some prices. Customangeleyes.com initially quoted me $425 for the clear-out service, but then changed it to $350. Umnitza substantially undercuts them with a fee of only $250 for the clear out-service.

Get a cheap heater gun and point it to the weather strip / glue (black) 8-10cm from the surface. The weather strip will get soft quite fast. Soften the weather strip on one side of the headlight and the start to bend in the edge using 2 flat screwdrivers. When the front-glass has come loose (1-2 cm out from the heatlight) start on the other side. Final heat the side where you findt the turn signal and it should be loosen.
The best way is to use some glowes and your friend uses the heather gun to heat the weather strip while you try to loosen the front glass. Using screwdrivers will damage the edge when the pressure gets quite hard on a small surface (will not be visible).
When you are going to install the front-glass heat the weather strip around the headlight (the weather strip should shine) and mount the glass back, hold the glass when the weather strip dry.
Also get some marin sealing (black) or silicon to seal the headlight in the edge when you'ar done.
