Window tint question
I have always done my own window tint but this time I am only going to do my front windows to match. My daughter will be driving the car soon and i do not want it to be too dark.
Any idea if I need 35% or 20% to match it closely? Thanks, Shawn |
35 is barely nothing go for 20
|
when I did the tints on my X, I did 35 fronts, which is legal here in IL, and the guy measured my back ones and they were 33, so if you use 35 that would be almost the same.
|
I have 30% up front and it matches the factory tint level very well.

I have 35 up front too... I wouldn't go with anything darker if you are concerned about your daughter. Sometimes on really dark nights/locations, I have to roll down the window to see where I'm backing up with the exterior mirrors

I have 35. I even open the windows at night when parking...
Lucky daughter!!! |

Around here anything below 50% is illegal and 20% just gets you hassled by cops. 35% Still gives you a decent amount of tinting while still being (semi) visible from the outside.... Ive been running 35 since I got the X and have yet to be harassed about the tint.

My E70 with 5% all around (on top of privacy glass) and 60% UV on the windshield (NOT recommended for OP's daughter or anyone who does a lot of nighttime driving!) (Dirty pic) http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...4/a2042f7f.jpg (After wash) http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...4/0a5d408e.jpg |

Nah I stopped the 5% stuff about 10 years ago. It sort of pissed me off to have to open my windows when parallel parking in the city. I had to get my umbrella to park in the rain. I take it you don't drive much at night. |

Nope...not much night time driving for me. |
Be careful if its for your daughter and your not confident in her driving skills. I have 5% on all back windows and 20% on the front windows all over the privacy glass tint and my rear view mirror is always dim which is why it's hard to reverse at night.

Granted guys, I do have to take my daughter into consideration.
However, once she has her own car, the 20% does look great all the way around. Just can't do that yet. I think I will give the 35% a shot and then she will have a care in a few months and it won't matter. I had to roll my windows down on every other car I have owned due to the tint. Never too dark to get pulled over, but dark enough at night time to have to see good. Thanks! |
