Service History

Is the service history for each vehicle recorded on a world wide database? If so does anyone have access to it? I've tried to get information on my vehicles history but am struggling a little.....

Won't your dealer give it to you?

Bulk, I agree with JCL: a local/'your' dlr should be able to 'run' your key and pull up all work done at any BMW joint(s), unless Down Under is very different from NA.

The last time it was serviced at a dealer was 4 years ago, after that it was serviced at an indy in a different state that I'm pretty sure isn't there anymore. It may have changed name which is what I'm hoping that I can track it down but I was just thinking that maybe it was recorded somewhere by BMW.......

Unless the work is performed by an authorized BMW service center there isn't going to be a record of it. And truth be told, would you really want there to be? Wouldn't that be a bit too much of a "big brother is watching" scenario?

Nah I'd be happy with it, it'd be nice to know whether your chain guides are about to give out or whether they've been done 10 minutes before you bought it

I have a very confidential printout on my X. Well it even says confidential on the sheet

Last I visited the dealer there were service records for the 5 series which i seldom service there.
My suggestion is not to assume that the dealer has dumped your records call an ask them what you can do to get the records.

Perhaps if you Fedex the spare key and offer to pay them a nominal
fee they may print the records and send them to you and return your key. :dunno:

Yes I have the same thing. And to answer Bulks question, yes the data is stored on some database. My car is from Florida, but a dealer in NY got me the print out.

My car was serviced by dealers in Costa Rica and in Russia - I will try to see if a local dealer can pull up those records from their computers in the US - the carfax has lines about the car coming back to the US from Costa Rica and leaving the US for Belgium and then coming back to the US from Belgium (even though Antwerp was a middle point on its journey to Russia through Finland) but the CarFax is missing the original departure from the US to Costa Rica.
So, you can't rely on those records 100% - just an idea of what might be going on...
