NEED HELP ASAP-REPLACE RADIO-BAD ECHO

Hello Everyone,

I've recently purchased a 2006 X5 with Nav and DSP. The front monitor has gone bad (before purchase) and I found a post in one of the forums describing how easy it is to change the radio out. I am installing a Pioneer AVH-P1400DVD. I have gone to the tuner module under the tire (which was missing...nice) This is where things got screwy. First, I could not for my life find an amp turn-on. I went to the only white wire at the "Radio" module and at the amp, tested both and get power with ignition on both (using a test light...cannot find my multimeter to check actual voltage input), but when I try triggering it with the Radio's turn-on...nothing. The only thing I have figured is maybe it's some sort of Data turn-on. So I just cut the amp speaker inputs away from the OEM radio module and allow the amp to power up by using the OEM tuner. Now I have sound, but it echos really bad. I can turn one input out of phase to the other and it gets rid of some of the echo, but it still sounds bad and the subs lose all output. So is the fact that I'm using the OEM tuner to turn on the amp also causing the DSP to remain active causing my echo, or is there more to it. The one post I found did say I should have 4 sets of inputs going to the amp...mine only seems to have 2. They are larger wires than the rest and one of the pin diagrams I found indicates there should be 2 more wires in the harness that are not. SO, am I screwed and going to have to change the whole system out (which I am not opposed to but would rather save the money for Christmas) or am I doing something wrong or missing something. I really want this done today...I have to work for the next week. Please Help!!! Thanks in advance! And please only reply if you have helpful info...I just don't want to fish through 50 responses only to find 1 useful.
