After reading as many posts as possible, I was still a little unsure of the reliability of the X. In addition, I drive 4 kms, round trip, to work and back home per day, so the amount of gunk that I would have built up would have been serious. I ended up picking up another E90 that I make my wife drive to work so that it can be driven...I end up taking her hybrid on a daily basis...Thank you to all for your input! Well appreciated...I hope I can still post even though I don't have an E53 lol...

Like the 4.6 I picked up in the summer for the wife. Goes like crazy but seems like every weekend there's something to do on it. If you are getting one and ever need to get the tranny done use Toronto Automatic Transmission, they do all the work for the BMW and Audi dealers in the GTA and are reasonably priced all things considered.

Your first mistake was buying an E53 X5 as your wife's daily driver, they are just too unreliable, I don't want my wife and kids stuck by the side of the road.

Sorry ROMEOKC10...misread your post! That is the exact reason why I did not purchase the E53...I don't want my wife to get stuck somewhere...

my wife was coming home, around 5am, in -40 degrees celcius in moscow, when the engine dropped all of its oil in the middle of the highway!!! Well, i rescued her, but man!!! did i hear about it!!!:flame:!ouch::explode:
