How Do I Tell
 

hey i wanted to know how do i tell what kind of side mirror i have if it's Power, Electrochromatic opt, gloss finish or Power, Electrochromatic opt, w/o gloss finish or Power, w/o Electrochromatic opt; gloss finish or whatever other mirror they have?

you probably have power mirror, the glass should tilt up and down, left and right using a directional button on the driver's side window switch control... it also should be heated, as heated mirror was standard on the model line-up (anyone to know otherwise?)

if the glass on the side mirrors has bluish tint to it, then the glass is NOT electrochromatic. if the glass is plain white, than the glass IS electrochromatic - take a bright flashlight and shine the light into the middle of the windshield mirror (there would be an "eye" in the center of the main mirror). when the light shines into the main mirror, the all three mirrors darken and turn blue...
if there is a small button on the window switch, next to the "left-right" switch, then the mirror assemblies are folding...

well thank you very much for your help terminator ..i have the bluish tint in mine so i guess it ain't electrochromatic

well, you are in luck, if you wish to go with euro curved mirror, they are cheaper for your version... :)

really where do i find this?

go on ebay, do a search for bmw aspherical heated (not electrochromatic).. the sellers are usually in europe, mostly in germany

i just did a search on ebay and only x5 they have that for is E70

just set up a daily automatic search - it will pop up eventually.. the euro breakers post their stuff as it comes up - i have sourced a few euro only options/items by sifting through...

i will but that's just the mirror i need the whole mirror not just the glass that's why i wanted to know what kind of mirror i had so i can try and find a used one a yard
